Pennsylvania dairy farmers, a coalition of dairy leaders and sympathetic politicians are urging legislators in Harrisburg to push Congress to pass reforms that would permit whole milk to be served in schools.

A June 18 rally in the state Capitol rotunda focused on the passage of measures in Washington that would give students access to a full range of milk choices, and called for regulations prohibiting the labeling of milk alternatives as milk, according to a June 18 press release.

State Sen. Tom Killion, R-9, has introduced legislation that would protect Pennsylvanians’ digital property for generations.

Killion’s bill would allow music, books, videos, photos and documents stored by tech giants such as Apple and Google to be transferred to beneficiaries once an individual dies. This would be done the same way tangible property is transferred: by providing instructions in a will, trust or power of attorney.

High Hotels Ltd. held a grand opening celebration for the new Residence Inn-Lancaster, a 127-suite extended-stay Marriott-branded hotel located in The Crossings at Conestoga Creek. The Crossing is a cool-convenient, mixed-use lifestyle center in Lancaster that is anchored by a Wegmans grocery store which opened in September 2018.

Community leaders joined High Hotels and Marriott representatives in a brief program during which Aaron’s Acres, a leading Lancaster nonprofit benefiting children with special needs, was presented with a $1,000 contribution from High Hotels.

Ground was broken Wednesday for a four-story, 175-unit luxury apartment complex on a 14.4-acre tract on Millers Hill Road, very close to the Kennett Area YMCA.

The PA Family Support Alliance is looking for five good men or women who help keep children safe.

The Harrisburg-based nonprofit known as PFSA, devoted to protecting children from abuse, will honor five individuals from across Pennsylvania with the 2019 PA Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids award.

The award recipients will be announced at a ceremony in Harrisburg on April 3, as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
