We are your dairy farmers: “Stronger together”

We are your dairy farmers, families just like you facing unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19. Like everyone, Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers have been tested in ways we could not have imagined months ago. We were positioned for a strong year at the start of 2020. But, that drastically changed in March with epic supply-chain disruptions, customer-order cancellations and the closing of our schools, colleges, restaurants, government, businesses, and retail outlets.

Letter to the editor | Purchase dairy items to support farmers

On behalf of the 10,000 dairy farm families that I have the privilege to represent, I want to acknowledge how difficult this time is for everyone. Our prayers are especially with those families whose health has been affected by the coronavirus.

Our dairy farm families are committed to providing wholesome dairy products to feed our communities, especially during these challenging times.

Buying local? Your milk might come from this Annville family’s dairy farm

As farmers of a 400-head herd of Holstein dairy cattle in South Annville Township, Brent and Stacey Copenhaver know that the milk their cows produce at Talview Dairy has a big impact on the local economy.

“I think, especially right now, when you think of the small businesses around us and what has happened to them, that buying local is so important to spur on our local economies,” Stacey Copenhaver said.

Local glass artists will participate in Friday livestream art event

Two local glass artists will participate in a music and arts livestream Friday night.

Elizabethtown’s Michael Peluso and Wrightsville’s Jaime Duncan will do live interviews and demonstrations during Fan-Tastic Virtual Voyage 1, a livestreamed event coordinated by BrainVessel Gallery in Mechanicsburg. The stream begins 7 p.m. Friday.

Peluso is a glass blower, and Duncan will demonstrate the art of glass marble making.

Farmers and Consumers Forge New Links During Pandemic

The farm community is responding with heart to the COVID-19 pandemic. Farmer donations of milk, meat, eggs and produce are helping individuals and food banks in the increasingly difficult job of feeding needy families. Many of those families weren’t even close to needy two short months ago.

People who aren’t needy, who are able to weather the pandemic economics, are making it a point to buy from their local farm markets and farmer CSAs.
